Promoted as an elevated private park, with valuable outdoor space for relaxing and entertaining, MNLA designed a two-tiered, second floor terrace along with a streetscape for a 25 story rental building at the nexus of downtown residential Brooklyn neighborhoods.

The 22,000 sf amenity terrace sits over a loading dock and ground floor retail creating the differential levels on the roof.  The outdoor space includes a variety of grilling areas, putting green, and sun bathing terrace complete with an outdoor shower. Private outdoor spaces are available for reservation and a small outdoor terrace is provided for an adjacent office space.

Inspired by dunes, the mounded landscape is planted with waves of grasses intermixed with perennials and shrubs to provide seasonal interest. The grill area is surrounded by Honeylocust trees, providing light shade on a sunny, summer day. A trellis, planted with flowering vines, creates a focus wall at the end of the main roof circulation. A boardwalk meanders through the grasses to bring residents to a higher platform with cabanas and chaise lounges.
