This NYC Department of Design and Construction (NYC DDC) LEED Silver building is the headquarters of Staten Island's first new police precinct in decades, built on a steeply sloping grayfield parcel in an emerging neighborhood.
MNLA designed the site to include a large parking lot, buffer plantings adjacent to a cemetery, and residences. Its unique landscape feature is a source control stormwater management system comprised of rock-lined swales that convey on-site water to bioretention basins. The design approach integrates the sitework into an overall high performance, sustainable framework and is the first such green infrastructure project for the NYC Police Department (NYPD).
Staten Island's first new police precinct in decades, the 121st is a LEED Silver certified stationhouse premised on sustainable stormwater management and a native plant palette.
