Kingsborough’s Academic Village provides space for community-related programs and is a green and inviting gateway to the 70-acre campus. The MNLA design creates a clear hierarchy of public and academic realms. Reconfiguration of circulation at the entrance to the Academic Village introduces a median and calms the flow of traffic at this popular drop-off point. The 26,000 sf complex features a courtyard with a play area and enclosed faculty terrace. Walking paths meander through the courtyard and lead to the building entrance and adjacent parking. A tree-lined path leads pedestrians from the Academic Village complex through the parking area to a waterfront boulevard, extending the outdoor space and offering spectacular views of Sheepshead Bay.
